Re: Edwin jay
I believe it's in very good condition
Re: Edwin jay
That's a real beauty leonitus
Leave it in that untouched condition ,maybe a little oil on the joints.
I'm only a novice so I will wait for the more knowledgeable to value it.People are fair on Talkblade and will give you sound advice so I would wait until they comment before selling.
Auctions are best to give all a chance and if 2 people want the knife or just have to have it then it will make more.money for you.
The picture is slightly blurred on my tablet but that's a beautiful old knife ,nickle silver mounts ,carbon steel blade looks full from this one picture.Super quality and apparently the best of the best light horn onf all switchblades was chosen for these at the time, with great build and control quality requested by Edwin Jay.
The knife is approximately 65_75 years old /1950s
Edwin j. Hoffritz had about 300 made when he approached Sam Polk and they were made by Latama for sale in high end Hoffritz cutlery shops at 8 -10 dollars each ....that's 3 times the cost of other picklocks back then .
This one is a highly desirable switchblade and you may be pleasantly surprised at the interest in this knife.
You will have to take some better pictures to sell it
Good luck Leonitus ,hope you can share more pictures ,im afraid thats as close as ill get to one of these knives.
All the best

Re: Edwin jay
I moved this topic into the switchblades forum where it should get a few more views. It can also still be viewed from here.
Re: Edwin jay
All that info about Sam Polk ordering only 300 of these is old wrong outdated info. There were many more Edwin Jay knives then 300. They are still rare due to the limited years that Hoffritz sold switchblades. Roughly 1949 to 1951.gravknife wrote:That's a real beauty leonitus
