"Robi" Klaas

For years, Klaas marked some of their tangs "Robt. Klaas." The "t" was often mistaken for a "I."
Today a new Klaas sodbuster lockback pattern came in, and I'll be darned if it isn't plainly marked "Robi Klaas!
Of course there is no longer a Robert Klaas cutlery. The name is trademarked by RTZ Distributors.
The knife is probably made in Asia, as it is not marked as German. Not badly made, but "Robi Klaas?"

Here is the stamp that is often misread as "Robi."

We've seen many people corrected that called them "Robi" Klaas knives over the years. An understandable mistake, as it seems so uncommon to abbreviate the name Robert as Robt. But, now that some company is actually stamping them as Robi? I foresee many future debates on the proper name, while someone is holding a knife stamped Robi Klaas in their hands!

Well it's not really the "same company." A distributor bought the name, and is having knives made.
