Looking for candy - original "Black Cow" on a stick
My Mother, age 98, is remembering her childhood.
and is yearning for two types of candy, that may no longer be produced.
If you know of an online source, I'd be very happy to "score some" for her.
One is "Black Cow" on a stick. ( like a "Turkish Taffy ")
it is a white round straight rolled paper stick. .
with a "Slo-poke" caramel taffy bar on the stick like a lollypop
and the whole thing is dipped in Chocolate.
NOTE: this is NOT the modern "Black Cow" which is a chocolate flavored caramel
in a paper wrapper, much similar to a "Tootsie Roll". without a chocolate dip coating.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Second. . .is an un-named cherry candy drop. of a particular shape.
There are two Cherry gumdrops connected together with a folded edible rice paper stiff string.
It looks like the letter " A " . . . or an upside-down " V " . . . . with ball feet.
I do not know if the candy is soft, like a twizzler or like a hard jelly bean.
this is not a super critical request. . . . I just thought it would be a nice surprise.
Mom recalls in the early 1930's, decorating the Christmas Tree with these cherries.
And also real tinsel . . . .the metal tin foil tinsel, not the modern mylar plastic.
I remember real tin tinsel, and real tin and paper gum wrappers that you could peel apart.
the tin was metal, and you could save it into a large chunk, ball it up, and hammer it into shapes.

Try Zeb’s in North Conway, NH https://www.zebs.com/
The last time I was there they had a very large selection of old fashioned candy. If the don’t have it, they may know where to get it.
I remember peeling the silver foil off the chewing gum wrapper and rolling it into a ball and then using it like a paper spitball.
Is this it? Made by M.J. Holloway & Co. Chicago, IL.

Thank you for all of the replies. . .
I live with My Mother (98), and Mother-in-Law (92?), and they sit and reminisce . .
so it will be nice to spring this on them. . .
If they are available.

From what I read, the chocolate-covered, Black Cow on a stick was discontinued about 30 years ago.

There are Many custom candy makers out there too that could come up with something. Good luck and I hope you find what you're looking for.Rob

Those were definitely worth nabbing as a kid! Lasted a longtime.

Thanks to the above, I found them, a 3rd party makes a copy.
and I'm an Artist, I can fake a wrapper and box better than most.
But I have not sent away for the actual confectionary yet. . .
The old ladies that would be tickled by this are currently being amused
by the advent of flower planting season.
I got the same response by asking the lawn mower kid to pick me up 4 bags of potting soil.
and a bunch of baby roots in trays.
and the 90+ year old ladies are planning how to dig up the porch box planters.
