Re: AKC swinger from Grindworx
I was on BladeForums discussing the AKC swing guards. It seems there is still a debate on which are real. I noted the Asian ones all seem to have on pin in the bottom bolster but the real Italian models have two. Anyone agree with this?

Re: AKC swinger from Grindworx
First i heard Italian knifemakers need to outsource knife parts from "CHINA" to make knives. Just because they invented the noodle don't make it right.

Re: AKC swinger from Grindworx
I looked through my files and ran across a couple of Frank Beltrame knives that I purchased in Nov. 2019 that have two pins --
-- these came out of an assortment of Limited Edition pieces produced by FB in 2011. ( photo by 'huckles' )
Does the "two pin" rule ONLY apply to FB swinguards, and never to fixed guards? Does it hold true for swinguards from other Italian shops?

Re: AKC swinger from Grindworx
I believe the two pin is only an indictor on swing guards.
Re: AKC swinger from Grindworx
Even the manual ones from Italy have the two pins on the bottom. I suspect it maybe for support of the bottom lock release.
Re: AKC swinger from Grindworx
the Italian stilettos' only have one pin
Re: AKC swinger from Grindworx
The newest run manual swing guards have one pin BUT notice it is off center towards the front blade side. The Asian copies seem to favor the pin placement of the manuals on their auto versions.
Re: AKC swinger from Grindworx
Hi guys, my first post here, this whole cluster about these swingguards is very confusing, the ones sold though BladeHQ are also counterfeits? I thought BHQ was a reputable dealer, or are they just being fooled as well.
They say they are from Italy, but everything points to China

Down here in New Zealand these things are hard enough to get anyway, let alone navigate the counterfeits.
Any and all info would be helpful thanks again

Re: AKC swinger from Grindworx
I've heard good things about the AKC swinger from Grindworx, but I personally have not had the chance to try it out yet. As for the other two knives, they look solid as well. I especially like the look of the Campolin Diana with Santos. If you ever need any repairs or maintenance done on any of your knives, don't forget to check out the gunsmithing services at Walker Outdoors. They have a team of experts who can help you keep your blades in top condition. I always prefer to pay a little more to get a qualitative knife instead of a poorly-made fake.
Re: AKC swinger from Grindworx
These AKC 9" swinguards came direct from Angelo quite a few years ago. Seems the original design since about 2008, which is likely when they introduced. Steel liners, one pin bottom bolster. He's been fading out AKC and replacing with the A.G.A Campolin stamp due to the relentless attack with AKC counterfeits.
