Triton OTF -Drop Point (M390 Premium Steel) Hendrix By Viper Tec
I just ordered this OTF. It has an M390 Stainless Steel blade.

My order is fine. The Viper Tec will be one great OTF! I'm going to LOVE this knife!
(I was under the impression that their computer had thoroughly fouled up my order, but I was wrong).

.
From who did you order the knife? That link simply opens a teenie tiny picture of it.... no information.
How easy is it to keep hold of the knife? The handle does not look very "grippy" -- I dislike knives that
easily slip out of your hand while you are trying to get your thumb on the button (or lever).......
I do like its looks, though..... nice clean lines.... very attractive ~

I ordered the knife from Blade City in Florida. ViperTec seems to have an excellent reputation for well-made knives. (the company backs it with a "Lifetime Warranty").button_man wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 10:51 am .

I think that this will be a good one.

I looked at the Viper Tec site. They are selling ( sold out) counterfeit 13" AKC models. The one you ordered should be fine, but I have read ( and believe) these are China made OTFs and the life time warranty is valid as they will send you a new knife as their price mark up allows for that. That said the Lightning models are useful great knives and this will hopefully be one also !

Not everything out of China is junk anymore. Hate to say it though.

I worked at a machine shop, that was working for All-Clad cookware. . . Made in U.S.A.
All-Clad / Clad metals made the laminated metal, and stamped them into pans and lids.
But the big heavy handles cast of cookware grade stainless steel, were all from China.
China has great nickel deposits, and I'm not sure about nickel metal safety concerns.
But, it is cheap to import stainless from China. And we'd bolt them onto pots stateside.
But, they were mostly crude, and needed re-polished and re-bent sometimes.
From 2002 until about 2012 I watched Chinese technology explode,
they used to have backward 1950's methods,
but around 2010 they went digital, I started sending them CAD files they could read,
software programming they could load up for direct CNC.
Recently I designed a new OTF KNIFE handle type for a overseas manufacturer
and they are really on track with precision milling.
This file has data removed for proprietary ownership considerations and is clarity reduced to fit this post.
What can I say. . .I am indirectly profiting off of the clone industry.

Re: Triton OTF -Drop Point (M390 Premium Steel) Hendrix By Viper Tec
The Viper Tec Hendrix has to go back! (I got a lemon). The blade ejects and locks up relatively well, but fails to retract. I finally arranged for the blade to get "off track" and reset itself. I ejected the blade, only to find that it failed to retract without heavily pulling back the slide button. (I'm not a weak individual and it was nearly impossible to get the blade to unlock). After several attempts to alleviate the problem, I decided that it is best to return the knife for replacement.
The blade steel is great. It was the mechanism that came up short. I'll get it later and have a fine knife anyway.
Life goes on.

I have the deep and abiding feeling that I have been screwed! Blade City has yet to respond and I'm out nearly $155.00! ::facepalm:: ::dang:: ::td:: I have my doubts whether, or not, Blade City will help me take care of the lost lemon of a knife.
Be advised. (Forewarned is forearmed).

I was picking up a bite at the North Plains McDonald's and ran into the Postal Clerk when I shipped the knife back to Florida. I had spoken with her for about two minutes when she reassured me that the package would likely be returned to me and I could reship the knife back to Doral (Miami) FL. I certainly hope she's right and that I get the knife back so I can reship it to Blade City.
I liked the knife and want mine so badly that I can almost taste it!

.
Is there any connection between the Viper Tech Triton and the Jeff Harkins Triton?
--or did two different makers simply like the same name?

The Chinese maker may have copied the Jeff Harkins Triton name. (Then again, it could be coincidental).button_man wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 1:48 am .

My misdirected knife has not returned. I am out about $150.00.
