Nice bunch sir, thanks for the pics...
Re: Some K-12s
K12s were my favorite. . . .
At least the very sexy advertisement was. . .
It was deceptive. . . the blade was drawn too long. . . .
If you "checked it" like a draftsman. . . you saw the geometry was not true.

Re: Some K-12s
The knife was not always the same. . .
The blade actually changed, the tang stamp and the blade grind.
the way the handle scale was pinned could be different.
I don't recall which was released first,
but the pakistan version was last.
I thought the slip joint non-locking folder had the nicest grind.
at least it was the closest to the deceptive advertising drawing.

Re: Some K-12s
I'm still looking for a scan of the advertisement for this bayonet version.
The bayonet point was never called a K12-AL. . .
But some had the same body, with the bayonet blade.
The slip-joint non-locking version had two different bodies.
The tail pin changed , one was "on-center"
and some of the bodies did not have the pronounced "Step"
ground into the liner profile for the folding guard relief.

Re: Some K-12s
I recently got out my "K12-AL Box" to inspect my collection. . . .
An unknown friend "gifted" to me a large 12''+ jigged bone swing guard.
(he signed the shipping box " Ed Burns . . 77 Sunset Strip, L.A. California" )
( a reference to a 50's TV show '"leather jacket character" who combed his hair a lot.)
So I had to compare it to the collection.

A - Black Clip point Slip joint folder.
B - Best mint example - original owner
C - Best mint example - original owner
D - Favorite Flicker. ( see explanation of custom mangle )
E - Bayonet blade lockback
F - O.M.O.R. - 8.75 inch real horn scales with replacement cross guards.
G - Pakistan Knife with solid Aluminum Bolsters and Aluminum Liners
H - K13 - 9.125 inch Westbury Lockback Knife
J - K61 - 11 inch Westbury Lockback Knife
K - 13 inch Fabico
"B" and "C" . . . I often find the best examples of a knife, and built a "seat" inside a candy box
and under the lid either place an advertisement, of a drawing and description . . .
What you see are my best taxidermic examples in the progress of being "mounted."
Explanation of "D" . . . .
I ruined a lot of knives. . . I'm a mangler. . . .way back to about 1965.
I made gravity flick knives out of everything, because Switchblades were hard to find.
I learned to polish blade heels, solder guards so they swung together.
This knife doesn't really lock open solid. . . but it makes a great movie prop.
I can get it to open one handed, by a little pressure on the lock button, and a gravity inertia wrist flick.
If you look close, the swing guard pin has a big drop of solder like a ball. Not sloppy at all.

Re: Some K-12s
I got really good at repairing worm holes.
The O.M.O.R. . . . knife "F" in the above photo, came like this in the mail.
No guard. . .over-ground blade. . . .bug bites.
I layer super glue really thin, and dry brush paints really thin, layer by layer,
until I get a nice translucent repair that is more or less color matched.

Re: Some K-12s
Shown at the top is a 13 inch AGA modern flatguard for scale. . .
Second is the Fabico. . . .
I have other knives that are NOT K12-ALs . . . . .
Sheepfoot handles, both pick-bone and horn. . . . . . OMARs. . . . .a CSC Canal Street Cutlery
and a P.I.C. gravity flick knife with bolster/toggle button.
Somewhere I have "Flintstone / Frankenstein" giant faked up Automatic K12-ALs
One is cobbled up lever action made from a 12 inch italian lockback
Another is a 16 inch lever action made from a "Pakistan Boar knife" (long blade folds into short handle)
I can't seem to find a photo. and the knives are boxed up real good. . .
I'll post the images later.
The bottom toggle knife is a story unto itself. . . .
It should be in Wikipedia under "gravity knife". . .You can push the button and flick it with inertia.
I rebuilt it with copper wire for pins, in case some expect wants to REALLY restore it.
The copper pins will come out really easy.
I have a friend who has the fixed bolster version. . . the only one I've ever seen. . . .A Unicorn.
Somewhere I have a flatbed scanner image of it. . . on a disk somewhere.
I had a lot of stuff on Photobucket . . .but lost it all. . . .

Re: Some K-12s
NOT MY KNIVES . . . . .IMAGES SAVED FOR REFERENCE ONLY
Ian Bevens "Killbucket" had a bunch of K12s . . . .
He had a Yellow one. . . . .
I had a red handled one.
I don't know how many colors they came in.
Killbucket's yellow knife, and his collection

Re: Some K-12s
Tom19176 has a cool collection that included a rare bird.
There is one knife with a oddball profile... . . I wish he would post the tang stamp photo.
Bottom Row . . .5th from the right. . .a giant K12 with the sheepfoot bottom bolster.
I have copies of the knives on either side, the K13, and the K61,. . . . . but not the mystery knife between.
Notice Tom also has the 7 inch "Panther Knife". . . . .

Notice in Tom's collection. . . in the above photo, 2nd knife bottom row. . . a Panther Knife.
The advertisement also cheated up the blade size too large to fold closed. .
in order to make the advertisement sexy. . .
