Prison spike and Jacques Mongin custom knife
In order to fund my watch collecting hobby I decided to sell two pieces from my personal collection.
First one is a prison spike. Auto knife made in prison Mírov in Czech Republic. I got it about 15 years ago from my friend who worked there at that time as a prison guard. It took me some time to convince him to sell me this knife and I finally succeeded. The knife is an integral piece (the metal frame is made of one piece - at least I could not find any seams. Also the swing guard is one piece. OAL is 245mm, blade 110mm. The knife fires with authority and locks well. The blade is released by small button on top of the spine. It has also scales made of some kind home made mikarta. The blade material is unknown, also the blade is not really sharp. There is no blade play at all, also the guard does not move when open. Looks like the maker spend lot of time tuning it (most likely had enough time for it anyway…)
It is difficult to put price tag on it because it is one of a kind, but I value it at 290.00 USD.
The second piece from my collection is Jacques Mongin ring lock release knife. The knife maker is well known in France, but virtually unknown in the rest of Europe or USA. He has been making knives since mid 50s. This particular example is wine-cheese knife. If you like knives, wine (possibly beer) and cheese, then it is right for you. Over the years I have searched for similar and found only one another piece. There are other versions of it (some can be found here for example: https://nordicknives.com/collections/ve ... %20Jacques but most were sold out long time ago and are very rarely seen for sale these days. And if you find one it was probably made by one of his apprentices.
The knife is also integral, made of one piece of blond horn. OAL is 230mm, blade 100mm. The second blade has bottle opener and serrated blade for cutting the bottle capsule to get to the cork. And of course the cork screw – which is partially submerged into the top metal plate. The main blade + the secondary blade are both secured in open position by the metal tab, which can be lifted by pulling on the ring. And it really requires some power to lift it. The horn is nice, there is small crack by the pivot screw but nothing serious. I would say it is there from the time the knife was made. The knife is in perfect shape, the only issue is with the corkscrew – if you push it too far down, the tip of it gets stuck under the top plate and you need some tool (or metal nail) to pull it back.
My price for this knife is 699.00 USD. The price includes registered airmail shipping to any country. Payment via PP, Zelle or deposit to my WFB. And if you have any questions, just ask.

I have a small Mongin in my collection. They are fine knives, but few know about them.
