Vintage "Coricama" 13 - inch picklock

Post by Peiper »

Here is my latest purchase, a 13-inch Coricama picklock. It has a 5mm back spring and has a really fast open. I really like these large handles on these old vintage switchblades.

I'm not great at discerning slight differences in metals from a photograph, but the front bolster appears (to me, anyhow)
to be a different composition than the rear bolster. Has it been replaced.....? --or is it just me....

The top bolster is clean the bottom bolster is tarnished. Both are nickel silver. I'd polish the bolsters, etc. I like a restored knife.

Thanks for the replies. The bottom bolster is not tarnished. It must have been the angle of the picture that made it appear that way. Here are some better pictures. Once again, thanks for your thoughts.

Great looking piece. Looks like the Coricama has an edge over the Latama. Which one do you prefer?

Both precious knives. Please leave them as is. You can never undo change. A little oil would be your best bet.

Thanks for the replies. The Coricama has a square cut out and it is defiantly heavier than the 13" Latama flat guard. I am going to leave the knife "as is". No cleaning.

Nice and I don't own a Coricama. My favorite sized picklock is the 11-inch and I've always thought the 13-inchers are too big, however, they are cool and impressive.
