Howdy Causeway,
I just started getting into the filework also. Heres my first, its
on a S&W clone. I didn't want to screw up a good blade.

OOh Thats some wild file work.
I'm guessing you used some type of template to help you with it.
I have to say that is really really nice work.

Causeway,
What did you do to cover up my reply or why is your picture covering my reply, or is it my computer. When I look at my reply
I just see your picture. I did't use a template, I kinda looked at some knives on BA.

Causeway,
Forget my last post about your picture covering my reply. It was my work computer. On the screen was one big picture covering two posts. O'well
computers make mistakes so poeple don't have to.

Thanks MrBigg,
Nemo had a class on how to put together a Mikov kit over on the knife101 forum and he used
one of my kits to do the class. When the class was over he sent me the completed knife and it has this really
nice file work on it. Well, I just wanted to be able to do the same to the knives I was making and that's how
it came out. I've done a couple of Bokers and a couple of clone M-14s and they turn out nice. I am not very artistic,
I can hardly draw a stick men but working with files is kinda mechanical and that's O.K. I just followed patterns from
the knife I got from Nemo and others I see on the web.

mr claudster,

what kind of files do you use? do you have a link to where you learned this cool artform? as a custom fabricator, i'd like to give it a try on an old beater buck fixed blade i have.

it's kind of like a tattoo for your knife :D

I sent you a email.
MrBigg, Heres a picture of a M-14 clone I just did last night. I use a chainsaw file and dremel, Thats it. I haven't found a site that really gets into it.

wow - that's great - one night?

well i'm gonna be a dead man, cause my wife already says i spend too much time playing with knives - but i'm dying to give it a try!

i don't own a chainsaw, so is it just a small round, and triangle file you use? - is the dremmel the key tool?

oh yeah, one more question - do you start at the tip or the tang?
By the way, I like your hammer. You have come a long way MrBIGG
thanks mr claudster - i had a rocky start here - but i've mellowed - also, i've spent so much on knives lately that i can't afford to leave the house :D that's why i've spent the time reading here, and getting to know the regulars!

MrBiGG,
I have three chain saws and I've never sharpened one! They have two sizes at most hardware stores and I use the smaller of
the two. I haven't used a triangular file yet but I try different ones that I have. The dremel I use for just about every thing from
smoothing out the rounds to making cuts. So far I have started at the tang only because its easier for me and I have more control.
