Blade Polishing Tips?

Post by natcherly »

I have some stilettos that show slight scratches on the blade, mostly from rubbing against the liners during opening/closing. Is there a way to polish these out? Don't want to ruin the rest of the blade doing it though. Also don't want to hurt the value in the event I want to sell or trade them.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Find a piece of stiff leather-an old belt or similar. Impregnate the rough side with Simichrome, Mother's polish, or similar. Let it dry. Then use this "lap" lengthwise to polish the flat of the blade.

Sure! Works well on jewelry, too.
You can also use jeweler's rouge on it.

Bill,

Thanks for the great tip. I think that I can actually do it. Please understand that due to some elective surgery a decade or so ago, my ability to impregnate has been greatly diminished
