Polishing wood?

Post by Stone Knife »

I want to finish off the slightly dull areas on the burl scales of my forum knife... how does one polish wood? I've done metal but am (ahem) stumped here.

Thanks!

I would say to use Simichrome on a clean rag. Then several coats of paste wax.
You could also try a very thin sealer first.

Wally
I have spent a fortune restoring and customizing my 37 Ford Woody. I got rid of the old engine and dropped a 327 blown chevy in. I completley rebuilt the chassis using mostly tubing and did the interier in diamond tufted red leather. I have to keep polishing the real oak trim with mahogony inlays cause the east coast isn't kind to wood on cars. The outside paint is luminescent pearl which sets off the red leather interier.It took first place at the Budwieser world of wheels show 2 years running in the woody class. But maintaining the car is a little different then a knife handle.Why don't you just tell them what you use on your wooden eye,that might do the trick.

Greetings, Mr. Pushbutton-

Well, okay- the secret recipe for a truly shiny wooden eye is thus- Two parts Vitreous Humor from a proven virgin, two parts freshly squeezed fluid from a Bartholin's gland, state mandated LSD for flavor, and soak in Coors from within until eye is gleaming.

AS ever,

When i polish wood i do this;

I buff the wood on a buffing wheel, with white compound on it. If the compund gets stuck on the wood, i take some spirit on a piece of toilet paper and rub the handle with that. It works for me, but if it goes wrong for you, please dont blame me :mrgreen:
