Eagle Pencil Co. Gravity Knife

Post by rnchesnut »

I acquired an old Eagle Pencil Co. Gravity Knife that closes slowly, not completely all at once when the grips holding the blade in place are opened via a button on the bottom of the handle. I am thinking of using fine powder graphite to lubricate the blade even though it slides easily up and down when I manually manipulate it. And the grips seem to open enough for the blade to fall back into the handle? Seems to be a problem inside the handle? Can anyone advise me on the graphite or any other solution. I think oil would just clog it. Rob.

Flush it out with copious amounts of WD 40. Shake it out. Do it again-until nothing comes out.
Leave the graphite alone.
