Pin stock? And Italian switchblade repair

Post by SwitchGear »

I disassembled a swivel bolster Italian that wasn’t working and have a couple questions.

Question 1, where’s the best place to get the sizes below.
Question 2, removal of pins, grinding them or drill out?
Question 3, moving forward, what are the most standardized sizes of pins that I should keep handy if I want to do some repairs here and there?

So these are the sizes I’m needing for a knife I’ve disassembled.

Rear bolster and spring
.77” or 1.97mm

Pivot
.104” or 2.64 mm

Scale pins .077” or 1.97mm

Thanks

1.: Ebay
2.: Generally they can just be punched out, but filing off heads and drilling is sometimes required.
3.: Depends on what you are repairing. I keep an assortment of every size pin that I can find, and I still have to turn some down to exact size.
For modern Italians, .070, .081, and 2mm brass pin stock is handy. I use nails for pivots.

Ok another question.

Where to look for other various parts?
Safety’s, rockers, bolsters etc?

There is no place that sells those items. (there is one, but he's a crook.)
You'll have to make them or buy parts knives.
