conversion of COLD STEEL TI-LITE
surely some of us posess the very expensive ti-lite.
has anyone managed to convert one yet?
mine came to me second-hand so im toying with the idea of
making a clockspring style quickie of it.
godamned titanium is tough to mill and drill, tougher than i thought.
perhaps cold-stee
l offers a conversion kit?

YES,VERY TRUE.COLDSTEEL WAS KIND ENOUGH TO CONVENIENTLY
LEAVE A SMALL HOLE IN THE TANG INTO WHICH I INTEND TO
INSTALL A FULCRUM-RELEASE LOCKPIN.OF COURSE THE EXISTING
LINERLOCK WILL KEEP IT OPEN.
THANX FOR LOOKIN OUT FOR ME.

very limited progress,
today i fragged an old wind-up robot and pirated
its narrow clockspring.
a little thick for the intended purpose but the
surface-grinder at the pipeyard should cure that.or destroy it,
and then ill discover that the toy-bot was worth more than the knife.
if it werent fer bad luck,.........

Sorry to have not caught this thread sooner.
Yes it has been done. Rather expensively too.
A pair of blue anodized ti-lites were converted to coil spring autos by a machinist here in kansas city.
With the cost of the original knives, combined with the cost and difficultly of re-milling the titanium, the project was abandoned due to cost. There is also that pesky issue of duplicating that blue mirror finish once all the mangling was done. We figured to do it properly would result in a $500 knife.
Proto 1 went to the machinist for his efforts. Proto 2 was sold.
