Mini Astor

Post by JulesVane »

Here's an "honest" example of a 4.75" (12cm) Astor picklock. I'm pretty sure Astor only imported these knives in 1953. So, during some point in the last 68 years, the knife was apparently lost and/or forgotten. Fires great, locks up tight, sits deep. I just wish the bugs had forgotten it!

Nice! This is a hard one to know what to do with. Oil it and leave alone or restore.

Thanks Terry! I'm hoping for suggestions myself. I like clean and shiny, bug bites filled, until I hear/read the tongue lashings on "don't touch it" in so many threads. It functions very well.

I could see having the bug bites filled, but other than that, I would not touch anything else on the knife. If it were mine, I would not do anything.

I would clean the knife up with some oil and try to get the spots off but leave the rest alone. Great looking knife and I love the little one!! I have another solution for you, sell me the knife. Problem solved. LOL

Chris, sweet find, and a very hard size to find also, but you know me, I would keep it as is, it is yours so do what you wish.
