Never really cared too much for the abalone shell but this one was inexpensive enough that I gave it a shot
I’m not disappointed! Hard to capture the color variation here but it looks much nicer up close. May need to add a few more of this scale in the future.

Nice picklock. I have yet to purchase one in abalone shell. Not that I don’t like it in fact I want to buy a Frank B picklock in abalone. If only I had the funds I would get one! But yours is a great knife!

Thanks! I was biased even though I had never owned one in abalone shell.. thought the look was a little to ‘modern’ for my classical taste.. ahem. Plus the price difference. It actually grew on me right away. I like the way the light hits it at different angles. I’d absolutely buy a Frank B In abalone. Now I need to find the 13” AGA to match this one

It’s a nice picklock with a good mix of colors! I like abalone when you can choose what colors you want, but sight un-seen, it’s like that proverbial “box of chocolates- ‘ya never know what you’re gonna get!”

Like I said to WWV, everyone has to have at least one in their collection. What make is it?

I think you’re right JV, this one was a bit of a shot in the dark and I may have lucked out! It’s quite nice in person even though I think the photos don’t quite capture brilliance.
Thom I thought I could live with zero, now I have one and I’m sure I’ll end up with more.. this one is a 2017 AGA 11”

Gorgeous colors, PlatonicSolid! Congrats on a very nice addition to your stable of spring steel.
