Falcon from TYDY

Post by thom »

I got this Falcon a few months ago from my friend TYDY. Really nice little knife. N/S bolsters outrageous horn and very hefty for its size. I couldn’t catch the coloring of the horn. Really means a lot to me after my grandson lost a similar one that was my dad’s.
Pictured next to my new Latama for size comparison.

That's cool Thom. Almost reminds me of the Falcon Angel (I think it was called), that the AKC Speed Hunter auto was designed from.

Tom, those are awesome, are some of them auto’s? I would love to have an auto like it. I am really impressed with mine. Nice weight and quality.

JV, thanks for the information. Are the ones you are talking about still available? Are they auto’s?
I couldn’t get a good picture of it. Too small I guess. I had a Frank B humpback that had very similar scales. I’ll have to see if I still have a picture of it.

I was going to make the same comment about the Speed Hunter but the bottom bolster on Thom's kept me from doing so.

Hey Thom, you got a cool piece there! The AKC Speed Hunter has been discontinued for a while now, but I hear it's not the first time before making a reappearance before. Surprisingly, they can still be found at very reasonable prices and I'll keep my eye out. Like Jim mentioned, the bottom bolster on yours is certainly different. The overall shape is what reminds me of the Falcon Angel and AKC Speed Hunter. Tom19178 showed some nice examples of the manuals. Here's a double blade comparison of the Falcon and Speed Hunter. The Falcon has a longer top bolster like yours, but yours is the first I've seen with a bottom bolster. The overall shape of the knives look very similar...
