WW2 2ND PATTERN ISSUED FAIRBAIRN SYKES BRITISH COMMANDO FIGHTING KNIFE. MINT
This pristine example was a regular issue to British Commando Brigades during WW2. It featured a drop forged hand ground and hand sharpened blade by Wilkinson Sword Master Bladesmiths. This particular knife has a needle point. There are slight blade profile differences depending on who was the particular bladesmith was. They received a deep dark blue superb finish. Knives with a checkered knurled handle and hand ground blade are called 2nd Patterns. This particular example has a Broad Arrow B2 Proof Mark. These particular examples were considered "common" amongst early F-S (Fairbairn-Sykes) Knife collectors. Not so easy any more with many more collectors present now making it more difficult to find one in high grade condition.
