As long as both of you understand it's fine, but the few who use it here would mean it differently. And wouldn't understand it that way if it was used towards them. They would consider it an insult probably. There are regional differences here that can cause misunderstandings but television has tended to minimise them and make us talk more alike so they are becoming less common. One that almost got me into a fist fight was a slang term for genitals that meant the opposite gender in one region. This was 30+ years ago and may no longer be used.
