Same here.. but then again.. who has 60 pairs of clean shorts. I don't even have 15 pairs clean OR dirty lol. Its a decent amount of knives. I got bit by the bug pretty hard a couple months back. Been collecting for nearly a decade but hadnt really put together much of a collection until this year. Basically all of these knives besides about 3 or 4 are recently acquired this year.

I guess I'm good at finding them. All of them are from either SD auction or other members of the forums.

That's an impressive collection, and it is amazing how quickly one can put together a collection in a short amount of time from internet auctions. I've backed off and am not buying much anymore unless I find a good deal at a gun show. I've collected off and on for almost 35 years but when I started buying them off the internet, I bought more in a couple of years than I did for 30-plus years before that. They were harder to find in the early 80s or at least they were for me being that I was in my early teens and didn't have the ability to travel to shows outside of where I lived. My collection really took off when I went to a knife show on the east coast in 1985, and I bought several more knives during a trip to Germany the following year.

I agree with Panzer on this.....I have been a collector since i was six ( 49 years now), and the internet really opened things up for sure. Before that there were a few shows that had some, but ads in the back of magazines for Tio's imports, Adama's International Knife Works, and a few others were the only way to find any.....You must have invested lots of funds in a short time!

Honestly I haven't spent as much as you would think. There's only a couple picklocks in the collection and I never spent more than 150 bucks on any of the picklock stilettos besides one 11 rosco. I got the 11 black horn unstamped picklock for 110 dollars off SD auction and the 9" unstamped for 100 dollars. The rest are all transitionals and I tend to only buy em if I find a good deal and know I could turn around and sell it for a certain number more than what I paid, it's a rule that I stick to when buying. I paid less than 125 bucks for most of the knives in this collection, the only ones I ever paid top dollar on were the big 13 stag trans because they are my favorites but otherwise I tend to search for good deals and buy em when they are cheap. That's the good thing about the transitional knives, they are high quality very nicely built vintage knives and they tend to be relatively cheap because a lot of guys don't see any value in anything other than picklocks. The author of switchblades of italy said something in his book along the lines of "any knife with a swivel bolster has no collector value at all", it was one of the best things that ever happened to me in this hobby lmao.. it totally devalued the transitional knives and since they are my favorites I have been able to put together a big collection of them without breaking the bank.. I just got a nice 9" import stamped 2 piece spring transitional.. it needs a little work but it is a great example, it cost me 40 dollars. I honestly paid less for most of the transitional knives than the going rate on the crappy modern production stilettos.

Can you post some more pictures of the knife that looks like a vintage Fish picklock, but has bottom shell pullers?
Thanks!

This is a very interesting knife. I have seen only ONE other known example, it is in Lucio DiBon's collection. A member on SD was able to produce a picture of a minty looking multi blade variant with a corkscrew, it looked profesionally restored... but besides that, nobody seems to have even a photo of another example of this knife. Judging by the carbon steel, brass pivot pin, and picklock release, I believe it to be a 50s piece. It is unstamped. I have included a pic from Lucios collection, it is circled. Funny thing is, when I went to look for it in the freddie10 pics, it was in the FIRST pic of the dibon collection.. didn't have to search for long.. lol. It cracks open hard like a bear trap. The safety has a little pilot hole that is countersunk as if it were a red dot, but it's obviously not and never has been. It is certainly an odd rare knife that I couldn't pass up at the price. Thx for noticing it.

Can you post the multi blade model?

It's a great piece. Looks like a combination of a Venier made hunter (with the bottom pullers) and a fish picklock. Did anyone have any more info on it on the SD forum?
