Nice group, I can’t see the stamp on the wood handled knife I like that one the most. They’re all very impressive.

Thanks John! The wood handled one is from Ridge Runner. A budget brand, made in China, but with quite decent quality. The only thing I don't like is the tang and dividers weren't sanded flush with the handles. I intend to remedy that issue with my new belt sander that I got for Christmas.

I like the far left. . .classic lines. . .lanyard hole. .
I drop things. . . don't want to drop it off the boat.

The tanto point Kabar handle is really sexy . . . .
I have a few Kabars and Kabar clones.

I used a (several) cheap Japanese Fairbairn-Sykes commando knives.
wrecked them poking campfires and throwing them.
They are handy because you can put them into a pvc pipe and make a spear.
Great for wild grapes . . .apple and pear trees.

Most of the time, I invariably lose my knife camping. . . .
Someone "borrows it" and I never see it again.
So I quit with the uber-expensive high grade steel.

I had a really cool CVS do-it-yourself kit - - Arkansas Toothpick
long triangle point, square box wood hilt, thick brass guard.
Really hard and sharp. . . some scoutmaster broke the tip prying cans open.
That's when I switched to cheap bendable pound them straight again Japan commando knives.

anything that gets too long is just a lousy machete. . .with too thick a blade.

My favorite shape is the Randall classic bowie with the long false edge. . . and slight curved handle.
Love looking at my Japanese clone Randall. . .but never camped with it.

JerryK I agree with you regarding blade length. 5 to 7 inches is really the limit of practicality for me and really 5 or 6 is best. The SRK and the kabar clone are both 6". The clone stays in my truck.
