I think it's a black powder replica ,like most guns used in the Sharpe series back then ,.probably made in Italy ,but I am not 100% sure .Check out Italian black powder Flintlocks.

Harper ,Sharpes irish Seargeant had a Henry Nock Seven barrel volley gun ,It always looked real but they are quite rare and very expensive ,as are the Baker rifles ,too risky for use in a drama series ,except maybe for close ups .

It was my favourite drama back in the day so thanks for the memory .

Here's a real French,brass barrelled Boxlock sprung bayonet pistol for comparison .

I love the TV series Sharpe's rifles (all the Sharpe's Honour, etc.)
I figured it was a studio prop.

In some scenes there are rows of soldiers holding rifles,
and if you stop / freeze frame and look close
some of the fake rifles are so ridiculous.

My late father , back in the 1920's collected arrowheads as a kid,
and in the 1940's collected Flintlock Muskets, and a few Rifles.
A large number of which were donated to the museums in Pittsburgh.
The John Heinz historical museum has a lot of
our family / coal mining and immigration stuff.
The "Ft.Pitt " Point" museum has about a dozen rifles.
The arrowheads all went to the Carnegi Museum.
Some of the rifles were donated as a permanent "Trust" and cannot be sold.
A few of them were overtly sold by my Father , and sure enough . . .
the museum ended up reselling them.

I ( my brothers learned to keep a votable membership family Trusts, many of them )
So no inheritance taxes if transferred to living members, indefinitely, children can be added.
The trust only has a real "Brown Bess" musket, and a Pennsylvania long rifle.
(and most of my switchblades,guns, guitars, coins and antiques. . . and the houses.)
Yearly property and school tax paperwork on houses in trusts with multiple owners is a riot to submit.

So I sort of take interest in flintlocks, but I'm not any expert . . .

Antique guns were a real passion of mine .

I used to own about 25 antique guns A few Colts ,Savage,Allen and wheelock lipfires , Remingtons,whitney ,Kerrs Adams etc and many Carbines from the American Civil war .

I bought one Colt 51 Navy from a dealer freind in Nottingham and had to wait for it to be shipped from a Dallas show .It was engraved beautifully on the brass backstrap JB 22ndILL.VOL. (,illinois volinteers ),a beautiful gun retaining 60percent of its original charcoal finish and full engraved navy scene on the cylinder remained.It also had all its matching serial numbers ,a beauty especially over here in England ..Couldnt locate the exact JB when I tried as there were 3 with those initals in the 22nd volunteers when I asked" Horse soldier "in America to check records and research it .

I have had a fair few flintlocks rifles and pistols by Henry Nock ,Twigg .An 1813 Springfield Musket ,A beaitifiul Spanish Miquelet lock pistol from the 1700s ,but my best was a beautiful Queen Anne screw off Cannon barrelled example by Griffin and Tow from the 1760s .It had a solid hallmarked silver skull crusher buttcap with an embossed stage scene with actors on it to signify " FAME " as he had made it as a renowned gunsmith, Also had a silver "stand of arms "sideplate ,it was a magnificent piece.I got to meet Griffins descendant /relative remaining alive today ,named Eric and spoke to him about the piece,he loved it ,and told me about the fame connection .
Unfortunately life threw a few bad hands and I also had childrrn to think of so I had to sell them to survive . I regret selling them,still hurts me now .

Your fathers collection must have been something to behold ,would have loved to have seen that .I wrote a few journals on Antique guns and have many books on the subject ,but it was 25 years ago now .

Thanks for the memory once again of "Sharpe ",a proper drama series instead of the crap they put on now over here .

Been away from home 46 days now, still have not put on pants or underwear.
Just signed up for another 4 weeks in the nursing home.
$1400.00 room / food/ WiFi & Cable TV but no Meds and Dry goods/bandages etc.
It's 2:18 am and everything hurts so much I can't sleep.
Watching "Train Your Dragon" cartoon.

Been drawing to distract myself. . . .
one drawing is a split between my nursing home room, and where I'd be sleeping at home, with Mom and Bro next to me..
other ( UNFINISHED ) drawing is Demons torturing my Butt, and Angel Nurses tending to me.
