What's your anti virus?
I had used McAfee and Norton before switching to AVG free. Norton really ticked me off! I had Norton 2003, renewed my subscription, and had a couple of issues with it. Auto protect and email scanning were not working. I contacted Norton and guess what? They don't support 2003 anymore. This was in 2004! They took my money to renew my subscription.
Anyway AVG free is working great, no problems or issues. I found it on http://www.majorgeeks.com, which I check every day now looking for interesting software to try.

On the advice of some computer geeks, I now use Mozilla FireFox for my browser. It's supposed to have fewer security problems than Internet Explorer. http://www.mozilla.org/
I also use AVG Free and a router even though I only have one computer.

I collect springblades but I carry my "thumbers."
Well good news David, they have another free version. You can find it and other cool stuff here.

Re: What's your anti virus? - NO SUPPORT IF ITS NORTON
Well, they all piss me off. McCaffee is like a cud chewing old cow in terms of speed, not to mention being a memory hog.Xarathos wrote:I had used McAfee and Norton before switching to AVG free. Norton really ticked me off!
Norton's "support" policies really suck. So far the best "support" suggestion is a complete uninstall and reinstall.
There's clearly a conflict between Norton AV 04 & 05 and Windows XP SP2. As soon as you install the SP2 upgrade norton goes to shit. The when you reinstall norton, something in SP2 causes blue screen memory dumps.
I've had it with both of them. The next one, I am just going to wipe the HD, install XP-Pro without SP2 and then use Zone alarm as my firewall again. Never had the problems I had now until SP2.
Even sent a complaint letter via fax to the VP of product support - No answer. PUSSY!
SP2 has also caused me alot of problems. The only time it seems to be stable is when SP2 is installed on a fresh install.
Norton does not seem to like SP2 built in anti-virus. Since reformatting my HD and not installing SP2 it runs fine.
Micorsoft sucks, maybe time for Linux.
