Frank B. 11" swinguards.

Post by hwevers »

Back after a lot of physical problems.

Just curious what the current price range is for Frank B. 11" swinguards and availability. Not the Latama ones. Haven't seen one on SD for 2-3 years. I have a few of them going back to WSB (?) days when he tried to corner the market. 2004, I think.

There was a gentleman on You Tube showing off a 9" and an 11", with what he claimed were "Bamboo" scales. Citrca 2013 I think. Looked like brown wood w/some black streaks running the long way. It takes some digging, but you can find it.

Has anyone ever seen or heard of this variation?

All opinions appreciated.

Best regards,

Howard

No but I will ask.

What you are describing sounds a lot like what they called palm wood. Maybe.
I, personally haven't seen it for quite a while.

I will ask if they have some when they make the swingards again.

Could it be Micarta scales? They sell for $125-175 from what I see on the numerous FB sites. I remember them selling for $60-70......At the Mystic show there was one for sale for $85...It never sold. That was two years ago

Tom:
Not Micarta.

I do have one Micarta, which Beltrame called "White Oak". I also have 2 w/wood scales, but I can't recall which each one is. Brain farts are happening more often these days!
