EIG Cutlery?
I had a buddy give me a switch here recently.
Its about 13-14" long dagger blade picklock with
light horn scales. Its marked EIG Cutlery Italy.
Found a tang stamp pic on another site but no info.
Condition is rough but snap is strong, blade is centered, little if any blade wobble.I was wondering if you had any info on it.Buddy said it was bought in
Mexico in late 60's or early 70's.I dont have pic yet camera took a crap, but will have pics up by Friday.Any info on importer or knowledge would be helpful. Thanks Tallman

tallman,
Outstanding score! The EIG came from Sam Eig the importer I believe. It is likely a pre-ban picklock made in Maniago. I'm typing this from Puerto Rico and don't have access to my copy of SOI, so if anybody does, just chime. Or perhaps one of our resident antique experts will read this and provide more details.

!!
EIG was an importer from Maniago. If the switch is a pick with full liners then it was made around the ban years. Restore it and you will have a beautiful piece of history there!!
I WATCHED A SNAIL CRAWLING ON A RAZORS EDGE. THIS IS MY DREAM. THIS IS MY NIGHTMARE
Full liners
Yes it does have full brass liners. Now who would be the best to restore this switch?Scales are chipped and cracked and warped. What would be a estimate of price after being restored?

I have a theory that Eig sold picklocks to Mexican vendors after the 1958 US ban. This information bolsters that theory.
