I have a Cold Steel Smatchet but...

Post by Fishtail Picklock »

Is there a good replica that's worth buying with a blade that's 10"-11" long that can be used for real "dirty work" (personal defense) that is worth owning? The newer Boker 2.1 Smatchet is nice, but $400.00 is a lot of money.

Opinions?

Generic ones go for under $20, but you already have one of those. $400 is a lot of money, but if you want the brand name, that is what you pay. Is it worth it?

Years ago in Hong Kong, I asked a shopkeeper if the Gucci luggage he sold was real Gucci. He replied it was better than Gucci as it was made in Hong Kong! The logic escaped me so I didn't buy.

The choice is yours.

Nothing, but I would like to have a shorter, more rugged version that is thicker yet easier to wield.

Thanks to all. I looked at the "TOPS" machete and decided to "shift gears". Instead, I ordered a Condor Tomahawk. It has 1075 Carbon Steel with a long "beard" on the bit of the "full-tang" 'hawk with a nice point for piercing cranial structures. (Works for me).

The wait begins.
