Efforts are being made to reach a solution to this project, if the design is kept simple it could work, an "Imitation Horn Thread 2002-" knife is within reach. The biggest question is how many people want what absolutely HAS to be a compromise between the various requirements of so many people.

Best wishes

I also like Gorts design but I worry that there might be copyright issues regarding the origin of it. Although "Dead Heads" aren't the most lawsuit happy people in the world, it might be worth looking into. Now if we could say that it was a parody...

There shouldn't be a problem with copyright as long as it's not mass produced, advertised and sold to the public. This knife is being made privately, in-house, for the TalkBlade gang....or is it the "ImitationHornGang"

Head Alert!!

Post by Wally J. Corpse »

Greetings, Mr. Gort-

Danger! Danger!

That logo format is so close to, well let's just say, stolen from, the Grateful Dead's 'Steal Your Face', that usage of therein would bring out the neckties in full force. The profit mongering that goes on behind the 'peace-love-granola' face of the Dead industrial machine is so powerful as to exert even vagueish resembleances unto copyright infringement suitisms.
I decree unto thee to alter said plagerism forthwith! For this simple thread illustration could be the innocuous seed to bring a bitter fruit to bear, the exposure, and subsequent public scrutiny of our beloved secret forum. Just as the now almost certainly 100% dead guy Jerry Garcia postulated, when there is no pebble tossed into still waters, there can be no ripples of reprocussion.
How do I know this?
Two and an 'arf decades ago, my lovely sweetie embroidered the same skull-lightning bolt logo on all the hats of me roofing crew; whilst a roofing in the Haight, we were astounded whence accosted by a secret agent of the Dead accounting arm, who was inflamed by wearage of said logo without paying.

Just a word to the wise- sometimes it just takes a little missed stitch to unravel a great thread...

AS ever,

Your ol' pal,

Wally J. Corpse

I believe that we should heed Wally's words. Scrutiny and publicity are two things that we don't need. Why risk it? It is a nice logo though.

Suit yourselves, but there is no multi-colored lightening
bolt, nor any associated dazed and confused
hallucinogenics around the sides. If necessary I can redraw
said skull entirely from scratch and modify, but as long
as the IHT sits atop said skull, there will always be some
resemblance.

We still don't know if Arthas can etch the thing yet.

p.s

Wally, you appear to be using a copywrited BOC logo
as your avatar. Do you have permission to do so?

I'll post a preview of the knife engraved later today. However, it'll be just the writing without the "thing". I'll inquire in the following days if the pattern can be done, in the meanwhile I'll collect thoughts on the first prototype, which should match Teddy's suggestions. ;)

I think Mr. Gort should re-draw the skull and save it for the Forum knife.
I suspect there will be much greater support for a standard blade on the Forum knife. The standard blade will have a lot more room for engraving and allow Mr. Gort's artwork to be larger (which I think it needs to be).
