I am SICK of theft

Post by cam »

Added Jan 26th: Kevin and I have have been in comminication on this subject. I am going to modify/summarize this post and then post new developments at the end of this thread

Many aspects of my website (I run http://www.bladeplay.com) and a competitors website (unique blade) were similar and I expressed my displeasure over this fact. While I still maintain that many of ideas/text were taken from my website I don't think the intent was malicious. To be fair Kevin has been respectful and mature in his email replies. Again please see my replay at the end of this thread.

Cam. Didn't you know it's always easier to take someone elses works than do your own.

Here are a few more that like to use others work:

http://www.automaticknifestore.com/

http://www.knifesmart.com/

http://www.knives4wholesale.com

I noticed that "unique blades" was listed on the pay per click engines for a short time and when I looked I thought the site looked somewhat bladeplayesc but didn't look at his prices or FAQ.

It's a pisser. I know first hand but other than a few unique little tricks there really isn't much a person can do.

You can threaten to expose their thefts to the public but many people just don't care to hear it. Virtue is somebody elses problem

That's the kicker- there's not much we (the victims) can do. And I'm sure my post will actually turn off a few people. But I came into work and sales were so bad I thought my server was dead or something. Luckily I had just been booted out of my advertising spot by someone who has created a website using some of my work. Phew!

And then there's places like http://www.knives4wholesale. We've had people call to give us hell about a product they have not recieved or that they got the wrong knife. Turns out they thought we were knives4wholesale because they use some of OUR pics. For crying out loud. I'm just sick of it...

We get that all the time Cam. People actually threatening us because they didn't get an order from one of the 3 above. They're going to sue or call the BBB or turn us in for fraud and it's not even us the bought from. I guess now we can add uniqueblade.com to the list of parasites that steal our work and our time.

The BIGGEST problem we see are that these guys advertise stuff they don't have to make them look like real businesses then when they get an order for the item they can't supply the customer. We get more complaints about other "stores" doing that than anything else.

I know how much work you've put into your businesses, Cam. These guys are thieves, pure and simple.
Some folks call it a sling blade, I call it a Kaiser blade.

The problem with most of them Shari is that it's a hobby not a livelyhood. They can afford to not make much especially when somebody else is doing their knife work while they are at their job making their real living.

People will steal your web design, your pictures, even your ideas but they cannot steal your loyal customers and your reputation. Maybe they will cut your profit for a while but they will not survive too long. Customers will find out where (not) to shop .. do not worry...

A way to assist these bums in their own demise is to suggest to any of the bums' complaining customers that the customers contact immediately their credit card company’s fraud unit. Visa and MC take that stuff (non-deliverly of goods, etc.) seriously. I would even provide the complaining costumers with 1-800 numbers, just to make it easier…

You know I also get inquiries and complaints from people who bought Mikovs somewhere else... Those people are now my customers.
