No, this is NOT a X-Rated Post!
I was hoping some one could help me with info on a French Begon. I have parts for a Begon that I would like to assemble. However I do not know if the top bolster (closest to the blade) was assemble at the factory with a SCREW or PIN. I have found photos on the web with both. Top photo has a screw 2nd photo has pin.
I have seen other Begon models with both screws and pins (http://www.autoknife.info/French_1.html)
NOTE: Photos are from web site (http://www.autoknife.info/index.html). I believe a member from this group here. Unfortunately I’m not sure of his name, might be Auto knife?
So If they were assembled with a screw, could some one tell me were to obtain “said” screw?
Thank You in advance!

The simplest way to assemble it is to use pins.

Re: French, Pin and Screw?
Hi Bill, Thanks for the reply! Yes I know the pin is the easiest way to go. I figure I would try to keep it “Factory” stock. I’m seeing asking prices for these damn things keep going up. I’m not so sure they are selling them for the asking price. I just assume a vintage knife is more desirable in “Factory” stock form then, in altered form. Although that is no longer the case in vintage cars, and now also maybe with auto knives.
Thanks again!

Re: French, Pin and Screw?
I'm pretty sure the original version of this knife was pinned. Later models had screws.
Ask Autoknife to be sure.

Those screw on French autos are nothing but trouble.
Re: French, Pin and Screw?
The pivot on that model was a screw, with the handles being pinned.
No, I'm not happy to see you, that's my 12cm "Red Rose" in my pocket!

Didn’t AGA recently do a knife modeled after this one?
