Kershaw launch 8

Post by sammy the blade »

Bought the Kershaw Launch 8 the other day. Been over a year sense I've bought a knife. Haven't had any luck trying to post pictures on forums but if you want to see it you can go to Grindworx on the 2nd page of automatic knives. More of a weapon than a user but it's a little over 2ozs so it won't pull your pants down, and I like it.

I also have one of these. They're a bit more useful than you think. The steel is good and holds a decent edge. You can do things with the #8 that you can't accomplish with an Italian stiletto. This is what makes the purchase both fun and useful. It gets a "thumbs up" from me. 8)

I have one as well Sammy, the only modern style knife I have purchased in over a decade, not counting replacing the Swiss Army knife that TSA took (but that's another story). I like it a lot, powerful coil spring, razor sharp, and reasonably attractive IMO. Mine is the blue model with bead blasted blade. I get your "more of a weapon than a user" point, but believe it would be fine for light duty work.

Jim, I would rather have had a black one but they were sold out and if I'm not mistaken the blue was sold out too. Haven't bought anything for myself in awhile so I splurged. Seems like all my money goes on my son, and gas!

I recall when these came out and thought about buying one but didn't. Your post motivated me to look them up again and I got in the smaller version, the Launch 12, today. It's a snappy little knife that I think I will carry some. Not my picture and this is from the PVK website but this is it.

I've been carrying my Launch 12 in my EDC rotation, and I like it. My only complaint is I wish it had a deep-carry pocket clip. My Microtech UTX-70 is practically invisible and if anyone noticed it, they would probably think it was a pen.

Splurged again. Blade H Q has a black Damascus Launch 8. After taxes it was $160 and change, put it on a credit card so I can make a few payments. Should get it by mid week.

Should be here Friday, don't know why Blade HQ uses the mail and Grindworx used Fedx or the brown truck but it is what it is. Shipping costs the same, nothing. Review will be coming soon Terry!

It came today, fires hard but noway near as sharp as the gray one I have. Thinking about doing a blade swap but haven't decided for sure yet.
