Dual Action Concealed Release Knives?

Post by InTheTrenches »

Hi there,

I’m not sure if this is the right terminology, but I’m looking for a knife that can be opened and closed both manually or automatic. Ideally the automatic function would be hidden, so you’d have to know how it works to figure it out.

From Google, this seems to be the term. Any recommendations?

Thanks you in advance.

InTheTrenches,

AFAIK these are called "Dual Action" Automatic knives. These have been made for many years with an obvious "nail nick" to distract the casual handler/observer from the automatic-release option. Many of these were hidden behind neoprene inserts or sliding scale releases.

This is a prototype knife made by Heretic. It's labeled a Pariah and would meet your requirements except the buttons not hidden.

Here is a Vallotton chameleon and Microtech CMT 5. The Vallottons button is under the scale and the Microtech's is under the clip.

I have some clones like that quite a few years back and I really liked them. The original has to be the bomb diggity.

Those are some fine "dual action" knives. I like them a lot.

I was in Church this morning and the pastor was commemorating Veterans Day (a bit early, but the 14th would be too late). An old "Brown Water Navy" man asked me for the use of a knife. I snapped opened my Bat Cave Sendoa and he didn't even blink. A lady saw me open the automatic and quoted Crocodile Dundee saying, Now that's a knife!

After he was finished with it, I closed it and went about my business. (Our congregation isn't completely comprised of "sheeple").

Anyone handling Boker plus should have them, I imagine. Try Blade HQ, seem to be complete dealer. Even from European site with $30 shipping is only $70. Email Boker for dealer list. Good luck, Tom
