The best "virus" I have yet to run across!

Post by Fishtail Picklock »

I finally found a knife that is perfect for "gentlemanly" carry.

Now if only we could get them to make a "toothpick" version of this gem! (Think of the possibilities). 8)

Piranha's have a very strong spring. If you like snappy, you'll love this.

Yes, I do like a snappy auto. (It lets you know that the knife is open). A healthy S30V Stainless Steel blade with a Rockwell Hardness between 60-61 makes it a reliable tool for finer work. (This is what a good pocket auto is all about).

Now, if only they would make one about 1/3 the size of the current "Virus", they would have a true "vest pocket" auto that would go unnoticed until it is needed.

.

I bought mine (the all-black version) in October 2020 and wrote a short review of
the knife here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29315&p

As I mentioned in the 'review' my knife weighs (a hair under) 2 ounces.....56 grams. You don't even know it's in your pocket.
You can't hack through a beam or drive it into a sheet of plywood.... but properly sharpened, it will function much the same
as a straight-razor -- a fearsomely sharp blade that will slit through organic tissue like it was warm butter.

I also bought (2) of the Piranha "Prowler" -- one in orange and one in green. (see: https://www.bladehq.com/?search=Prowler)
They are identical except for the handle color. Very nice knives. The appearance made me think that if the Roman Legions had
carried switchblade knives, they would look like this. Here is the orange one:

Well, Tazman Tom is shipping me a red-handled, mirror-blade "Virus". I think that I'm going to like this...a lot! 8) :D

Thank you, Sammy. In my humble opinion, the "virus" is an expression of taste, style, and efficiency... at an affordable price. There's nothing like a real "workhorse" that looks elegant, and feels great, long after the novelty of the initial purchase has fallen by the wayside.

This will be a true "EDC" knife while so many of the other "collectibles" sit in a drawer, gathering dust. (I plan on getting my money's worth from it).

Thanks to "Tazman Tom", as of this morning, I have the "Virus" in my hand(s). This knife is the "cat's pajamas". Sharp as a razor, and "bad to the bone". This is my new (to me) "go-to" pocket companion. Properly used, this would inflict great pain and trauma. It should also be handy for:

1. Opening boxes, mail, and other packages that tend to irritate me.
2. Removing splinters, cleaning wounds, removing dead skin/flesh, and other "non-critical" First Aid applications.
3. Appearing attractive and "less than threatening" to the "sheeple" of the world.
4 Providing entertainment as well as "click therapy" when I need it. :P 8)

I'm now considering a Piranha "Fingerling" due to its smaller dimensions.

Any input or suggestions would be welcome.

If you want a small knife that should fill your needs. I had a clone around 20 years ago and for what it was I was impressed so the real deal should be the cats meow.

May I be so bold as to ask, to which knife do you refer?

The fingerling, my only complaint is the blade wobble, the real deal probably doesn't wobble as much as the clone.

Thanks for clarifying that. My "Virus" has almost no blade play. If either the Piranha "Fingerling", "X", or "P1 Pocket" is like it, this "Virus" may have a sibling join it in the "stream". 8)
