Flea market catch

Post by last_vegas »

Hello, gentleman, was at the flea market today, usually not so many switchblades there, but today managed to buy beautiful French florinox and saw bunch of worn out stilettos among other knives. Is it Japanese or Chinese in the photo? Marked stainless steel.

Nice finds! The stiletto appears to be a 1950's Japanese picklock, just missing the bail.

.

In what sense is the 'florinox' French? Made in France, or sold in France, or both?

Google's translation program is telling me that "flor inox" (separated into two words)
means "flower stainless steel"...... in Portuguese! (French for flower would be "fleur")

A swivel bolster? :o That's pretty unique (to me). So, the guards are stationary?

Vegas ~ Man, I envy guys like you that can find good knives at their local flea market......

BTW, do you mind revealing what you had to pay for those? (And is the French knife coil or leaf spring?)

Thanks, actually it's a rare find, to spot something at the flea market, usually the have a lot of Chinese crap, Microtech knock offs etc. I usually try to find online, using yula and avito apps - local variations of Craigslist. Swivel swinguard was found online - about 70$, Florinox from the flea was 38$.

They've just cancelled the biggest blade show next week because of ongoing covid lockdown, so I'll go to the flea market tomorrow, maybe find something, cause they will close it too and I'm out of new knives:)

I need to find one of these flea markets! Where I left here in NC it's mostly old glass, quilts and wooden toys...and when I DO find a knife guy with a display case it's usually full of Case knives and such. Not that I don't like Case, just not my fancy.

Peace. Scott.

Very nice catch on your new knives! The last one with the big guard, I have never seen before and it looks very nice!
Do you mean the guard folds as well? Can you post a picture of it closed?
Always fun to see what you find over there in Russia!

I have to apologize, was away for a while, didn't have the knife with me to make photo. Here it is in closed position

Thanks, hope the blade show won't be cancelled in December and I'll show new findings!
