"Coricama Inoxid" for sale on internet

Post by Peiper »

For anyone who is interested, there is an 8" Coricama Inoxid picklock for sale on the internet. The blade appears to be unsharpened. I hope this helps someone with their collection. Here is the link:

Thanks....I checked it out. Just a bit above my pocketbook. But the seller does have some really nice knives in his "store". Nice just to look at. Worth a peek.

I offered the owner a much lower price. He said he could take $575.00. That is the lowest he would go. The knife is too small for me. I think it is from the early 1960s.

That is a real cool one but it looks like the blade was either hand sanded before polishing or laid flat on the sander which messed up the middle line at the top. Unfortunately, those lines can be hard to reclaim once that happens. Definitely a Bill level job (not me, I mean) if anyone wanted that done. Also, the safety slot seems longer than other Coricamas I have seen. That might be something to look into if you were considering it.

Looks like there's a little blade loss but somebody will enjoy it

Sure resembles a Coricama. The hole drilled completely through the tang is interesting.

The brass pivot is original and a sign it is most likely older than most vintage picklocks. I have a similar knife with the full sear hole and plated button/safety. I believe mine is a Raimondo without the Raimondo stamp. But yours has an Inoxid stamp like a Coricama would have had. Though, I can't remember seeing a Coricama with the full hole. The full hole on yours is almost definitely original as there is no real reason to make a half hole a full hole. Maybe if someone wanted to plug and redrill it they would do that but that wasn't done to that one.

Could you get one more pic of that Inoxid looking straight into the handle with the blade open? I want to see if yours has a dovetail spring. Also, look for the cut outs of D-stamps on the inside of the front liner north of the button (see pic for reference). Some of those older ones actually had little brackets instead of the D stamps. I would guess yours has D-stamps.

Whatever the case, you have a great knife. A lot of new collectors will want to clean old knives or patch the bug bites. I really recommend not doing any of that stuff. As you become a more experienced collector you will appreciate original condition more and more. The only things you should have fixed on those knives is things to do with the function, like the rocker or spring.

Actually, it is just occurring to me that a knife with a stainless blade probably won't have those real old features.
