What is Likely Origin of This Automatic?
Hi Folks:
Anybody know what this knife might be? I'm guessing Indian or Pakistani. I can can tell this ain't no Italian craftsmanship. Still, it has excellent action and fires as fast as the few BARGEONs I have. No play and locks up tight. I bought it online about 10 years ago. Thanks.

Interesting knife. What is the handle made of? Thanks for sharing.

They actually are Italian made as far as I know. Jindiana used to produce them or had them made. I believe there are 3 diferent sizes.
I have always have liked the darn things and even carried a small stag one for awhile. But I agree, most I have handled were never perfect.
Patada is what they are called. I don't know if that refers to the style or maker.
Do a search for "Patada" on the forums and you should find more info. Youtube even has a few videos.

Good question; I don't know what the scale is. Interestingly enough, there is the same make of stag knife over at Sharperdeals titled "Vintage 1970's stag Pattada BO/BC". I'm unable to copy a picture of it.

PS- I think the handle on huckles was considered faux ivory, but they were also made in stag and horn.

Yeah, I think 70's is about right. I think there might be a section on them in Switchblades of Italy.

Those are really unusual knives. They don't look Italian at all. And they have a pretty unique two sear mechanism that I have only seen on those metal handle Bonsas. Also, the scales are held down at the top by going under the bolster.

If my knife from India is indicative of their general level of quality, it is doubtful that your knife came from any such source.
The photo doesn't begin to do justice as to how utterly crude the "workmanship" is.
(I will say, however, that the spring has the kick of a mule.)

Generally, Indian knives are rather crude, however a real gem pops up occasionally.

Bill, just to avoid any confusion, you agree that the first knife posted by huckles is Italian correct?

Italian Patada.
Re: What is Likely Origin of This Automatic?
Definetly a Jindiana Pattada with faux ivory scales. I have one. Look at the tang marking. Triangle shaped Indian head with word extra below. These knives come in at least 3 sizes in stag, horn, faux ivory and different color plastic scales. Very unusual knives. And Italian.
Re: What is Likely Origin of This Automatic?
Italian Pattada . I've seen three sizes of them. Some collectors seem to specialize in them.
