Double Markings and overlaid sear hole
Somebody has offered me this piece for $150, claiming that it was brought back from Italy in 1963. I have never seen 'ITALY' marked on both sides of the ricasso; much less with a sear hole that is overlaid onto this marking. (Also, the bolsters appear not to be nickel silver, so they may be more modern.) Any input would be much appreciated.

That knife wasn't thought of in 1963!

Very odd placement of the tang stamps. I have not seen them so far above the bolsters before.

I suspect the markings were done with a cheap laser and marking paint-and were done here in the US.

Re: Double Markings and overlaid sear hole
At least the scammer spelled Italy right.
Re: Double Markings and overlaid sear hole
The font looks like courier. I don't recall seeing many Italian knives using that font.

Note the year mentioned in the seller's earlier email:
Mon. 10:57 am >>> "It was brought back from Italy in 1963. It's all authentic."
I informed the gentleman of the information contained in Bill's posts, and he replied as follows:
Tues. 8:44 am >>> "It sold last night on Etsy for $125. Good luck with finding cheap Knives."
Tues. 8:53 am >>> "I bought it myself in Italy in 1968, so your so called expert is full of shit. Don't bother me again!"
This is not the first time I've seen a scammer turn snide, defensive, and belligerent when called out.
This guy couldn't even keep the year consistent in less than a 24-hour period.
I feel sorry for the unfortunate buyer who got duped by the false claims.
Thanks to all --and especially Bill-- who contributed their observations. Very much appreciated!

The knife is Italian imo, but maybe not quite as old as they said.
I wouldn't pay $125 but that probably wasn't a total rip off.

Look at the silver lining. The stag handles look pretty nice.
