Post by SteveH »

Are pins for F Beltrame late models of a universal diameter (scales and bolster)? Pin stock?

Yes, you should be able to find the pin stock easily. Google the size you need. Most common sizes are 1.8 and 2 mm.

What is the best way to learn how to remove and replace all pins? Proper tools?

Are you rescaling the knife? If yes, you won’t be reusing the original scales damaging them slightly won’t really matter. You can file the pins down and carefully lift off the scales. The bottom bolster pin will need to be removed. You may want to cover the bolster with thick tape. File the pin down slowly and carefully. Then you can push the pin out. Light scratches can be easily removed, but deep scratches are not. Take your time don’t rush it. If this sounds like something you don’t want to do there are members who can do a great job for you.

You may want to have Bill repair your knife. He has done work for me and it’s always done right.
