Hubertus lever

Got this new/older Tang Stamped Hubertus, Great Stag and good snap, hope you enjoy..pictures are bad....

A tang stamped Hubie (1955-1972 according to credible research) in fine shape with great stag. Now that is what I like!

How do you date Hubertus by stampings? I would be very interested to hear all the details.... thanks!

1955 – 1972: tang stamp
1972 – 1984: W Germany black blade etch
1984 – 1988: W Germany grey blade etch
1988 – present: grey blade etch , no W

Beautiful tang stamped Hubertus, great find! And, Jim, thanks for the dates info. I don't think I realized there was a date difference in the dark and grey blade etches.

Jim ~ Thanks so much! Info on German Springmesser seems hard to find.... now that we have books on the American and Italian switchblades, when is somebody going to tackle the rest of the world? I'd love to see a book on German and French knives!

Jim. Isn't there a Solingen etch window between tang stamps and etched W.Germany only ?
