New "Latamas" from autoknife.com

Post by Peiper »

Here is my recent purchase from Jon. I think these knives are old inventory from autoknife.com. Does anyone have an idea on when these were produced? I am thinking about 5 years ago.

Those are lookers!

Have you had recent contact with JB (john benson)? A bunch of us have been wondering what became of him and his internet empire.

I fully anticipate seeing a profile of him someday on the TV show "American Greed"

How did you contact him? Do you have a link?
He is a good source for new knives. Never purchased a vintage from him. Heard some tales.

Two very nice knives! I want to say that Walt started using this stamp about the same time the Latama Legend book was released. Has that been 5 years already, wow

I’m fairly sure Walt didn’t add “Latama” to the tang until 2018. Lord knows I’ve been wrong before 😂.

I recently received these two from Bill. I was happy to get them both.

I just sold the twin of your blond horn knife. Mine was much older though. It has a dagger blade but the grind is totally different ant stamped Frank B.

Sorry for the late reply. I have mainly contacted Jon through email most of the time. I bought these two bayonet blades and a 33cm vintage Latama from him. I posted the 33cm dark horn already. I had to ask a lot of questions because he does not volunteer much information. If asked, he would answer. Besides that, I had no problems.

When did Walt change to the half/full grid blades? I am not a big fan of these and prefer the traditional bayonet blades.

I was thinking it would be one of those local news "Catching the crooks" segments with the news guy trying to surprise the guy in the parking lot.

"Sir, I am with Channel Four and was hoping I could ask a few que...if I could just get you to explain...(chasing Roadside down an alley)...we just want to ask you..."

I was.

But I can resume.

Are you defending Roadside? That's a debate on which I wouldn't mind taking the right side.

Those are some nice knives.

As I understand, Jon both bought and sold. Did you ever sell anything to him? If so, how did that work out?
