Square button
I couldn’t believe this was on eBay this morning. It’s gone now after less than 12 hours.

Re: Square button
That knife just doesn't look quite right. What's up with the oval lozen? The safety looks to be a brass shim that apparently slides under the fire button. However, how does the safety get applied or released? Is there a missing piece? Do any of the true Latama prototypes/salesmen's samples have the "PATENT" crudely stamped on the square button, which itself appears out of scale?

Fishtail Picklock
Re: Square button
Pretty Rare !...I agree with Scott, beautiful untouched and awesome .
Re: Square button
It’s legit and correct. The safety is released by swiveling the bolster. The inlayed piece is correct for this size. It’s a great piece.natcherly wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 6:07 pm That knife just doesn't look quite right. What's up with the oval lozen? No, I'm not happy to see you, that's my 12cm "Red Rose" in my pocket!
Re: Square button
Wonder what happened to it. Did it sell or was it removed?

Re: Square button
I was told the patents for the swivel bolster and the safety mechanism were both from June 1951. The knife sold, don't know what the process was. Italian records show all 7" square button Latamas were also done in June of '51. Hope this helps some.
Re: Square button
I was told the oval shield was decorative only, no function.
