Yes, that was an exciting time, the end of the GDR and the Fall of the Wall.
For those who did not live through that epoch, I suggest the movie "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold". Starring Richard Burton (without Liz T. thank God), this story provides a feel for the fear, loathing and paranoia, not to mention the double dealing, prevent in those days. The wall makes an important and chilling cameo in the final scenes. The book is exceptional as well.
What an interesting knife to own, and how appropriate it was to commemorate such a significant historical event on a Hubertus. Have never seen one like it, and wondering if there's a story behind how you got it?
Thanks for sharing that, Mr. jim d, and hope everyone is having a great weekend.
Furcs - no great story on how I acquired it - just bought from another collector. It is a flawless example.
Roccomo - yes, that was the theme for the title, you may remember that 10 years ago I posted the same photos and titled the thread with the more appropriate "It was 20 years ago today"
Tom - thanks for sharing - great video opening with perhaps the most famous words of the Reagan presidency, and he sure had a way of saying them.
