The Speed Hunter arrived today.
I couldn't be more pleased. It is tighter than a drum head and can't accidentally open. No "blade peek", and the slide safety is extremely tight. The firing button must be firmly depressed to release the blade. The blade fires "quick qs a wink" and quite hard. This is one of the best AKC knives that I have ever seen. The Stag is absolutely gorgeous and will be the envy of everyone that sees it! I have been looking for a nice EDC "pocketable" automatic. I couldn't have made a better choice!
Thanks to both Dave Sause and Rick.
This is what "gentlemanly effects" should be.

I have no way of posting photos. You can go to Blade Play and find a stock photo. Regrettably, I can't show you mine.john wrote:Great choice, it’s one of my favorite models.

Re: The Speed Hunter arrived today.
Thanks, Ian.
I am feeling a bit better and am performing at our local Elks Lodge on the piano and performing my own acerbic form of stand-up.
The Speed Hunter is a marvelous knife. The spring in my sample literally "sings" with a twang as the knife snaps open. The scales are much like those in the first photograph. This is a handsome piece and quite serviceable too. That is the beauty of these knives. Looks, a great edge, outstanding utility.
What more does one need from a pocket automatic knife? These are the knives that men should carry when they expect to use their blades.
Love to the family. I am truly envious of you. It is hard being alone.

Or perhaps it’s something else preventing you from posting photos. In any event it is regrettable that you cannot post photos. I’ll have to find mine, take a photo and post it.

Re: The Speed Hunter arrived today.
That is the way a "man's knife" should look! Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but functional as well. This is the way I like my pocket autos. Useful, beautiful, and razor sharp. A true "working" knife need not be ugly. Beauty and utility aren't mutually exclusive. Being a "practical pig" has its advantages, don't you think?john wrote:I found it. Thank you, John.

Re: The Speed Hunter arrived today.
I have to agree with you function and beauty go hand-in-hand. I believe that the Italians have that down. They manufacture some of the most beautiful collectible knives that aren’t very functional and they also manufacture some beautifully functioning worker knives.
Mybonly problem with having a very attractive functional knife is that it’s hard to use it for fear o damaging the knife.

Re: The Speed Hunter arrived today.
So many become ensnared in aesthetics. While I love a great looking knife if the "dog won't hunt" it can only serve its time sitting in your lap. This isn't the point of the "working breed". Honest wear is not only a badge of honor, it adds character.

Re: The Speed Hunter arrived today.
I turned 63 on 12/01/17. Time on this earth is limited for all. This is the main reason that I prefer "working knives". Honest marks on a knife illustrate that it hasn't sat in someone's desk or sock drawer gathering dust and rust.
Make sense?
