1950's latama

Post by Zonkeydonkey »

Hey y'all. New to the forum. Have an opportunity to purchase this vintage latama. 13" and owners says its hus fathers from the 50's. I've only been collecting for a short time and most of my knives are newer custom builds. So, hoping for some clarity on what looks like a pretty nice vintage latama with a bit of wear. More importantly any insight on the monetary value would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Adam

Scrub the blade, dry, with 0000 steel wool. Then oil.

Appreciate the advice! I think it'll clean up nicely. Any clue what the value of this knife might be?

The thing about these is that there's a Million of em..they are very highly prized, among collectors..in the shape it's in I'd offer ya 250.to 300. For it..I'd get it professionally, cleaned.and depending on what it looked like I'd value it between,350./to 500.Condition is EVERYTHING!! any "shrinkage" of the horn, bug bites holes etc.will drive the price down..you have a knife with some potential to be worth.500.taking the above mentioned points considered.you also have the buyer's with more dollars than sense...but beware those buyer's often have "buyers remorse" and can lead to an ordeal..and problems,No seller wants to deal with.so beware.and thanks for sharing.

Very nice one. Prices are not what they were, I would say it would bring between between 400 - 500. Best, Dan

Also, if you are going to sell it, do not clean it at all!
