Sharper Deals - New Management ???

Post by omega »

I always seem to be the last to hear about stuff. I just spotted a 8/11/2015 mention of "New Management" on the SharperDeals website. It's located in Site News - upped right corner. It reads:

"The site will be going through some ups and downs as new management takes over. Please be patient when contacting us as there will be delays. Thank you."

Anyone know the back story on this?

It may not be my business, but for a couple years now the owners had talked about selling the Sharperdeals Auction website to take it further into the future.

I like to hope it is a positive move for Bob and Gloria of Sharperdeals.

Bob had some serious health issues during the last year. It could be that has caused a sale??

Hey Tom,

Yeah....I knew of Bob and Gloria's difficulties with Bob's health. And I'm really sorry to hear of his cutting back in the knife community - he's been a huge asset to our hobby, for sure.

My fear is that the auction site might go the way of BladeAuction and others, absent his and Gloria's careful administration. Auction sites are by nature problematic, requiring excessive hands-on time in exchange for minimal return.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how this settles out.

I could only see a change in management at SD being a bad thing.

when i talked to Bob in person at the Glass City knife show back in 2013 he had told me they were thinking about changing management then 2 weeks after the show Bob had 2 strokes . personally i dont think it would be a bad thing as Bob and Gloria would not have someone who does not know what they are doing run the site .
Thanks Bernie

I was told by Gloria back on 9/1/15 that Bob has no plans of selling for now.
