What knife oil would you recommend for auto's?
What knife oil would you recommend for auto's? I know too much oil may attract dust. How much should one apply? I've also heard Zippo lighter fluid may be used to clean a dirty knife . I know a proper knife oil is way better than WD-40 which is a more of a water displacer/lubricant. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Zippo can damage some scales People always use too much oil, a drop will do.

i been using Hoppes (gun & reel oil) for over 20 yrs with great success, also been using Militec oil with good success.
from my personal expierence the Latama Quick release is really good oil and works great but it will gum up after a year or more not being played with so not recomended for long term storage.
Thanks bernie *** Folgore Knives USA ***

I use Liquid Wrench w/Cerflon, very thin and dryish, no gumming....

I heard some good things about Cerflon. I think Smith & Wesson makes a decent gun oil with Cerflon in it, which I can also use on my guns. A little dab will do ya.dwells wrote:I use Liquid Wrench w/Cerflon, very thin and dryish, no gumming....

Yup, I put a tiny drop on my EDC a couple months ago when I first got it and it's still slicker'n a third graders sleeve .

It may not be the best but I have used good ole 3-in-1 made by the WD-40 company for years. It's clean, never gums and a little goes a long way.
Also it seems safe for horn, stag and wood. However I am still careful not to get it on the scales.

I know I'm gonna regret axing this, but I've never heard that particular expression beforeness - Why would a third grader's sleeve be 'slick?'

I have used fishing reel oil and sewing machine oil with great success use sparingly. Some people over oil their knives which can affect some scale material.
