Best knives we rarely hear about

Post by James »

I have a question for the group. What in your opinion is the best knives or models we rarely hear or read about. My two favorites thar I have sold to friends and need to replace are;

1. Piranha Amazon
2. Al Mar Falcon

These are both excellent in both fit a finsh and snap. Great blade quality also.

Thanks

Choosing the "best" is like choosing the "worst" - there are too many, in either catagory, to choose only one or two :wink:

How about I narrow it down to top three under $300.

Thanks;

I got less than $100 invested in all 3 of these. Puukko, Maserin & DeNardo, Abercrombie and Fitch [Vivtorinox] :!:
All three are "as good as it gets" for their intended purpose, two of them are loooong discontinued, so good luck finding them [at ANY price] :wink:

Ive heard good things about those Piranha's, aren't they a little hard to come by though?
Forgive me if I'm thinking of a different knife. :?

Piranha P1, SOG Blink (little bittie thing) and B-Stealth are all well-made, fair priced autos for utility, IMHO.
Buck 110, 112, numerous Schrades and Cases for folders.
Many of the gorgeous creations I've seen on this site and others by some of our "Knife-Crafters" are some of the finest autos and fixed blades I've ever seen.
Now, I'm a newbie and local idiot, and I'm sure you'll get a lot of different opinions on my first and second points, but not on the third, from the guys here.

Good luck,

It's really hard to say what can be considered the best because every person looks at each knife different on what they consider strong points and staying under the $300 cap doesn't help me narrow it down much since just about everything I like is under that price anyway. I have to admit my favorite knife seems to change every week since I am always coming up with something new I haven't seen before.

Woodard/Whitewolf- Fer De Lance
Built like a tank, locks up like a bank vault, kicks like a mule!

IMO, one of the most under-appreciated autos out there. They're getting harder and harder to find, so if you run across one, pick it up!!!!

It's a good knife but I'd rate it higher if it was easier to deploy "correct handed" :wink:

3 most under rated knives :idea:
1. the one I use for peanut butter.
2. the big one I use for cutting home made pizza.
3. the wire thingy I use to slice cheese.

**note**
just came through the door from work , I'm starving and dinner is cooking . that explains my choices. :lol:

I agree the Piranhas are very underated. For an American made knife they are very well made, but they don't get mentioned in the same light as MT, Protech, or Dalton.
Hard to come by? I don't really think so...Most of the bigger online stores have them. What is hard to come by is information about the company itself. They don't even have their own web site.
