1940s vintage flatguard

I acquired this unstamped 9" flatguard recently direct from Italy. I was told it is from the 1940s. It pre-dates the D-stamped liners and is super thick, even the brass liners look super thick. I love the lines of this knife. I don't have much experience with knives of this age and have only owned one vintage flatguard Latama in the past. Any info you can shed on this piece's likely lineage?
It is in super nice shape for the age. Some of the finishing is not as "refined" as all of the other knives I have. Maybe that is typical for the era and probably 100% hand-made pieces like this? If I had some "cleanup" done it would look brand new. I recently asked some other enthusiasts for opinions about doing that or leaving it "as-is" with its slight patina and it sounds like I would be run out of town if I gave this one a polish job!!!

I would definitely leave this be .It just looks so beautiful as is .

Love thise flatguards on it ,adds something to aesthetics . in my opinion .Beautiful horn ,large button and blade is in great condition ,add that patina and its a life keeper .
