I didn't say the patent number means it's a Latama.
I have seen knives that were not Latamas so marked.

The patent number is for a Latama kris blade. I believe the makers used it to keep others from making similar knives-even if it only covered the blade style. The backspring on Japanese picklocks are notoriously thin, plus they are nickel plated, which makes them brittle.

This is a "pre-Rizutto" knife. They are lockback automatics.
If your knife has a brass button, or anything different, it's not one of these.
