Re: 1st Tang Stamped Hubertus

Nice! I have a tang-stamped Hubertus I think was made by Bonsa.

Re: Tang stamp help please

I once had a Japanese picklock with that stamp and I have seen it a few other times. I think it's on Japanese knives only.

Re: Latama 11inch pick lock 1950s

The forums are not nearly as active as they once were and I agree it's mostly older guys 50 and up who participate. I'm surprised the sharper deal forum and auction pages are still up because both have been almost dead for a while. Lots of collectors have moved to the Facebook pages which I don't li...

Re: Hellraiser

Cool knife but not the Hellraiser knife. The character in that movie who used that knife was played by Andy Robinson, who also played Scorpio in Dirty Harry. He didn't handle a switchblade in that movie, but Clint Eastwood's character Dirty Harry, stabbed him in the leg with a 28 cm picklock.

Re: Latama v Frank B

I've never owned a Walt's Latama, but they are overpriced IMO. You can get a 1950s picklock in the same price range and sometimes less if you are patient. If I wanted to buy a new stiletto, I would go for the standard Frank B which costs less than $200.

Re: New guy

It was made in Taiwan. There were many of those around in the 1990s. I had one just like it but with different colored scales I got from a guy who bought it in Mexico circa 1992-1993.

Re: New AKC World Model Bolster Release

I find that interesting as well and if any make it to U.S. dealers, I would consider buying one.

Re: Movie Switchblades

If a switchblade enthusiast had written The Outsiders, I imagine the descriptions would be like this: "Two Bit carried an 11-inch Italian stiletto switchblade. The tang of his knife was stamped Latama, and Two Bit became fascinated with the Italian stiletto after seeing Rebel without a Cause when he...

Re: Movie Switchblades

I doubt Hinton knew much, if anything, about switchblades and she may not have ever even seen one other than in movies. As far as the shell puller in the movie, that was probably just random and was the knife that someone in the prop department found.

Re: Where to look for OTF

I recommend the Microtech UTX-85. It's the perfect size for EDC although I also like the UTX-70 which is a great little "office knife." I've thought about getting a Kershaw Livewire, but just can't justify it right now.

You did very well and I believe R. J. Richter was a Massachusetts importer so your knife was made in the 1950s.

Wow! They are all great but I especially like the IMCO because the 28 cm with bayonet blade is my favorite picklock.

Re: Another Otter-Hubertus

Do those come with in a box? Yes, all of mine have boxes. Probably was a weird question but over the years about half the Hubertus knives I have bought came with the green and white boxes and some were just in a plastic sleeve. I was just curious if Otter was doing anything different. Not my pictur...
