Re: Othello gravity knife
What's up with this knife paranoia? I just don't understand it. When is this madness going to end? John I hear you. Europe used to have less-strict knife laws than many places in the US, but that is not so today. I still remember seeing a display case full of switchblades at a gift shop at the Fran...

Othello gravity knife
Here is an Othello gravity knife. The knife is not high quality but I don't think it is very common. I have been to Germany three times and this is the only example I have seen. Blade is marked DBP.1075010. Unfortunately, this knife is now verboten in Germany under knife laws passed a few years ago....

Re: New member
Cool video! The rifle that the guy says was his father's is a K31. There are many of these on the US market right now and they are a bargain, although ammo is high. Most have a name tag under the buttplate of the soldier who owned them. As far as the stupid knife laws, they were probably passed for ...

Re: NATO MILITARY- SUPER AUTOMATIC
I have a blue handled Super Automatic that a relative bought for me in 1984. In the later 80s, all I saw were the black-painted NATO Military knives that I never liked as well.

Re: New member
Welcome! I remember those stiletto sylte key chain with the lever releases. They were all over Europe in the 70s..... They must have vanished the following decade. I visited Europe in 86 and the only key chain stilettos I saw were the regular button release. I have one that I bought in Switzerland....

Re: Flatguard
My bad on the handles. I did not realize some horn is translucent, and I thought I read somewhere that bugs were attracted to a chemical in celluloid, but I am probably mistaken with something else. Any thoughts on when this knife was made?

Re: Flatguard
The only reasons I say that it is not horn is because it appears to be fragile and there is one area where you can almost see all the way through it. Unfortunately, the handles do have insect damage. Other than that, the knife is in great shape. I agree that it looks similiar to the Latama shown in ...

Re: Movie Switchblades
I love this thread and have been following it since it started. Also love the videos that have been uploaded on youtube. Some other movies that come to mind that I don't think have been mentioned: "He Knows You're Alone," large Italian with bayo blade, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," OTF, "For yo...

Fribal Italian knife
Here is a button open, button close knife that I believe is Italian and was made in the 1960s. It is stamped "Fribal" on one side of the tang and the other side is stamped Patent 96847. Any thoughts on this knife?

Re: New member
Thanks guys. Vagrant, I noticed from lurking on here that you live in New Hampshire. I lived in Peterborough in 1984-86. I went to the flea market in Amherst every weekend. I did not see many switches but I still have a red-handled Edgemaster that I bought there in 1985. Glad to see you guys legaliz...

Re: Flatguard
I'm not looking to sell this knife. The handles do look like horn, but I think they are celluoid or some other plastic. It would be impossible to tell what is stamped at the base of the blade without tearing the knife apart. It may be a number.

Hello, I am a new member who has been lurking on this great forum for a long time. The first SB I saw was a miniature keychain knife my brother found in the mid 1970s. The blade was about one-inch long, and although it was an Italian-style knife, it had a lever like the German springers. He later bo...

Flatguard
Hello, I am a new member who finally signed up after lurking on this forum for a long time. Anyway, here are some photos of an 11-inch flatguard I bought in the mid 90s for $70. Tang is not marked. There is some kind of marking at the base of the blade but it is obscured by the bolster. Handles appe...
